Jaén, July 26, 2024 – SAPA is pleased to announce the establishment of the ‘SAPA’ University Chair at the University of Jaén (UJA), officially presented last Wednesday by UJA Rector Nicolás Ruiz Reyes. This chair aims to promote education, research, knowledge transfer, and innovation in the field of Mechanical Engineering, with a special focus on mechanical transmissions and their application in both the defense industry and civil automotive mobility systems.
The presentation event featured the participation of Francisco Díaz Garrido, representative of the company Mechaup SL and Professor of Mechanical Engineering at UJA, and our General Director, Íñigo García-Eizaga. During his speech, Nicolás Ruiz thanked SAPA for supporting this initiative, highlighting the importance of collaboration to strengthen a strategic sector in the province.
The SAPA Chair will be led by UJA’s Mechanical Engineering professor Elías López and will promote the creation of a testing bench to evaluate the reliability of components manufactured by SAPA. This project will enable academics, UJA graduates, and professionals to work together on improving mechanical transmission developments through necessary analysis, simulation, and experimentation. “We will generate knowledge that we will transfer to the company, facilitating innovation in a constantly evolving sector, which will enhance its competitiveness and create quality employment in Jaén and beyond,” said Rector Ruiz.
Francisco Díaz Garrido emphasized the chair’s objectives, which include promoting knowledge transfer in the defense sector and attracting talent to advance the development of new mechanical systems and components. “This chair will bring numerous benefits, from knowledge transfer between UJA, SAPA, and the spinoff Mechaup, to the creation of a multidisciplinary working group to advance new mechanical developments,” explained Díaz Garrido.
Íñigo García-Eizaga, General Director of SAPA, highlighted the company’s mission in this collaboration: “We aim to build technology, future, and intelligence. We will focus on the performance and efficiency of mechanical systems, discovering and retaining talent to lead the construction of future transmissions.”
With the creation of this chair, SAPA reaffirms its commitment to innovation, education, and technological development in collaboration with academic institutions, contributing to the academic and economic growth of the Jaén region.
