Tecnun creates the Tecnun-SAPA Business Chair to promote research on high-speed gearing and introduce students to SAPA, a company specializing in mobility technologies

Tecnun, the School of Engineering of the University of Navarra, and SAPA, a leader in mobility technologies, signed an agreement this morning to create the Tecnun-SAPA Business Chair. This strategic collaboration, focused on research in high-speed gearing for heavy-duty electric vehicle transmissions, aims to innovate in the design of transmission systems, key to sustainable, high-performance mobility.

The agreement was formalized by Tecnun’s director, Raúl Antón, and our SAPA general manager, Iñigo García-Eizaga. «For SAPA, it is essential to have the knowledge and talent generated at excellent universities like Tecnun,» our general manager emphasized.

Professor Juan Carlos Ramos, director of the Chair and professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials at Tecnun, explained that this collaboration «will not only advance analytical, numerical, and experimental studies of high-speed gears, but will also expose Tecnun students to real-life SAPA projects through their final degree projects, master’s degree projects, and doctoral theses.» Ramos added that «this alliance will enhance the development of skills in innovation and mobility technologies in our students.»

A boost to applied research and university talent

The research carried out at the Chair will address, among other aspects, the analysis of noise and vibration transmission, torsional stresses, transmission errors, and cooling and lubrication conditions, all of which are essential for optimal performance of transmission systems in demanding environments. An advanced test bench will also be built to test gears under real-life conditions, measure performance parameters, and validate the design of these critical parts.

With this agreement, SAPA strengthens its commitment to innovation and talent development in mobility technologies, contributing to the training of future engineers with experience in real-world problems.
