SAPA announces the creation of the «SAPA» University Chair at the University of Jaén (UJA), presented by the Rector of the UJA, Nicolás Ruiz Reyes, last Wednesday. This chair aims to promote training, research, knowledge transfer, and innovation in the field of Mechanical Engineering, with a special focus on mechanical transmissions and their application in the defense industry and civil automotive mobility systems.
The presentation event was attended by Francisco Díaz Garrido, representative of Mechaup SL. and Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the UJA, and our General Director, Íñigo García-Eizaga. During his speech, Nicolás Ruiz thanked SAPA for its support of this initiative, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in strengthening a strategic sector in the province.
The SAPA Chair will be directed by UJA Mechanical Engineering professor Elías López and will facilitate the creation of a test bench to evaluate the reliability of components manufactured by SAPA. This project will allow academics, UJA graduates, and professionals to work together to improve mechanical transmission developments through analysis, simulation, and experimentation. «We will generate knowledge that we will transfer to companies, facilitating innovation in a constantly changing sector, which will boost its competitiveness and generate quality employment in Jaén and beyond,» stated Rector Ruiz.
Francisco Díaz Garrido emphasized the objectives of the chair, which include promoting knowledge transfer in the defense sector and attracting talent to advance the development of new mechanical systems and components. «This chair will provide numerous benefits, from the transfer of knowledge between UJA, SAPA, and the spin-off Mechaup, to the creation of a multidisciplinary working group to advance new mechanical developments,» explained Díaz Garrido.
Iñigo García-Eizaga, CEO of SAPA, highlighted the company’s mission in this collaboration: «We are here to build technology, the future, and intelligence. We will focus on the performance and efficiency of mechanical systems, discovering and retaining talent to lead the construction of the transmissions of the future.»
With the creation of this chair, SAPA reaffirms its commitment to innovation, training, and technological development in collaboration with academic institutions, contributing to the academic and economic growth of the Jaén region.
