SAPA has broken ground on its new production facility in Shelby Township, Michigan. This facility will house SAPA’s headquarters for the U.S. market, and the 10,000 m² plant is expected to be operational in January 2020.

In an interview with The Detroit News, SAPA Transmission Vice President Deniz Balta explained that the choice of Shelby Township was due to its proximity to the company’s major customers, including BAE Systems, General Dynamics Corp., and the US Army’s Ground Vehicle Systems Center.

Furthermore, Deniz Balta highlighted the availability of qualified personnel and the region’s industrial capabilities as determining factors in the site selection. «Our goal is to invest $40.1 million in Michigan, create 223 new engineering, production, and administrative jobs, and take advantage of the benefits of local manufacturing.»

With this new facility, SAPA reinforces its commitment to innovation and growth in the U.S. market, contributing to Michigan’s economic development and strengthening its relationship with strategic partners in the defense industry.
